Hotel Analysis:

The volumetric study of the hotel seeks a solution for the current proposal made by the investors. The current project densifies the plot, close the access from Domkirkegaten street and occupy a large part of the backyard.

In the analysis, we can see that the volume of the hotel creates a dead wall in the parti-wall with the school. The solar study carried out shows that the quality of the direct sunlight is lost in the backyard. Besides, it does not benefit the residential building that is right next, creating more shadows and enclosed spaces.

Our hotel proposal seeks a solution that is more invite/open to the backyard, through a visual connection from the ground floor.

Based on the historical research on the development of bergen, we have found the evolution of the sea line that has been filled over the years. This idea of movement makes us believe that the ground floor could have an organic shape, giving fluidity to the new connection with the backyards.

The hotel proposed by the investors consists of 133 rooms and a way to negotiate the square meters that would be lost when we obtain more space in the courtyard, could be gained by adding two more floors to the new volume.
